With Barene, Studio Nucleo pays tribute to the Venetian lagoon and, in particular, to the barene – submerged islands which both prreserve and support life. The Barene collection is an extensive experimentation with the modular brick form – the literal and metaphorical building blocks of glass artistry – created via fusing glass waste cotisso particles. It draws inspiration from the overhead view of the barene’s numerous permutations of convex polygons.
